Drawings of Architectural detail within a few blocks of where I grew up.
First in my Local Architectural Detail series. These are all drawings of architectural detail within a few blocks of where I grew up. This is a drawing of the stone carvings on the Parish House of All Saints Church, Chicago. The wooden church, built in 1884, was recently restored and is gorgeous. The carvings are on the adjacent stone Parish house, which was added in 1938. (14” x 11” dry colored pencil) 2019
Second in my Local Architectural Detail series. A beautiful brick 6 flat, with limestone details, on the block of 4400 N. Paulina in Chicago. 11” x 14” colored pencil.
Third in my Local Architectural Detail series. A 2 part drawing of the Ravenswood Elementary School’s terracotta frieze.
The decoration is part of the North and South wings added in 1912 by Architect Arthur Hussander.
In a historical profile of the school by Elizabeth A. Patterson, she refers to the “yellowish terra cotta ornament” on the 1912 additions.
each drawing is 18” x 9” for a combined size of 36” x 9” on 2 pieces of 16” x 20” Stonehenge paper.
